Now I’m older & this shit sucks.

lollipops turn into cigarettes
the innocent ones turn into sluts
homework goes in the trash
detention becomes suspension 
mobile phones are used in class
soda becomes vodka
bikes become cars
kisses turn into sex

remember when getting high meant swinging at the playground?
when protection meant wearing a helmet?
when the worst thing you could get from boys were cooties?

dad’s shoulders were the highest place on earth,
and your mom was your hero?

race issues were who ran fastest.
the only drug you know of was cough medicine.
the most pain you felt was when you scraped your knees.
goodbyes were only until tomorrow.

we couldn’t even wait to grow up

now look whats happened.

Two Kinds of Intelligence

               


One aquired, ever since a child
The other gained, experiences piled
Textbooks and schoolwork
Discovering your own look
Memorizing math facts
Realizing how people act
Verbs and nouns written down
Nothing compared to cities & towns
Documentaries on history
Finding me, I’m a mystery
Studying for daily tests, no rest
Livin’ as the undersog, strive to be the best
Reportcards and SAT’s
People judge, they think they know me
We got parents who nag
Love them haters that brag
Aimin’ for highest valedictorian
Spittin’ rhymes like a barbaric Shakespearean
Incessant reassuring of bubble filling
Apparent peer pressuring, thinking if I’m willing
Deluded by reality, always rationality
Questions of morality, clearly marked me insanity
Conformed by school society
Tryna keep sobreity
Education then graduation off to ivy-league administrations
Generation of transmoration, too much interpretation, yet keep my motivation
Two forms of intelligence
My knowledge grows to be immense
Always maintain common sense
Life is crazy, it gets intense.

You don’t have time to convince everybody to like you.
Your time is too great to fight battles that don’t matter.
If someone doesn’t praise you, they don’t matter.

If someone leaves you, you didn’t need them.
I love loyal people,
I love the ones that I know will accept me through every decision I make.

When you realize that you can’t please everybody,
you’re going to see new seasons of growth, new opportunities,
& God will take you to new places that you’ve never even dreamed of.

However, it can also be painful.(not the tattoo)People tend to disregard their true selves due to flaws and imperfections. People prefer the pleasures of illusion        (i.e. plastic surgery, outlandish brand name clothing, caked on makeup, etc)  Igornance of ourselves disguises the true beauty and the individual uniqueness we are born with. Most people don’t want to lose their illusions about themselves, but self-examination is necessary despite the painful truths we may encounter. Without withstanding self-mortification, there can be no illuminating self-knowledge. The fear of ourselves will make us a stronger as a person as long as we are willing to accept and identify our strengths and weaknesses. Pain is part of life. To live life and assure we are still alive, it is a neccessity to undergo every emotion whether it is exhilarating, heart wrenching, painful, joyful, negative or positive. In order for growth, we must go threw the most uncomfortable situations. To know a feeling, we must be forced into a situation tobe able to understand the depth of the feeling. To understand each emotion we gain self-knowledge. Through self-knowledge, we become aware of the situation we are in.The more we are placed in a situation with that particular feelingthe better we learnt to cope with our lives and ourselves. As many things can be proven to be impossible,there is one thing that with always never be possible—& that is to run, hide and successfully get away… We may train ourselves to ignore situations and try to cover our true feelings but the more and more we do,the more we continue to suffer. Age is just a number

You’re as old as you feel despite the grays on your head or wrinkles on your face.

There is no age requirement for an opinion
nor is there a limit for intellectual insight.

It is a label we use in society to stereotype a person of their level of maturity and understanding of life.

Age does not define a person nor to looks or first impressions
A person’s intellect and persona could be distinguished by personality, perspective or life experiences.

  

Many people tend to misjudge people, for example, the youth.
Adolescents may be immature, wild and rebellious
but the shenanigans we encounter can teach us life lessons and mold us into the people we will become.

Trust me, I would know.

Modern day generations are developing quicker than ever before.
Acting an older age seems to be the new trend amongst youngsters (12 and under) and trying new things at such young ages, creating a more corrupt yet “grown up” society. (i.e. sex, drugs, alcohol, relationships, parties, etc.)

Back to the topic, don’t be quick to judge a young-in based on age
because when’s the last time you met a middle-aged man who acted like he was 12 ? Or another instance in which you met a seemingly innocent teenage girl who, in actuality, acted like she was 25 and had a drug problem?

Makes you think twice about people now huh?

It’s kind of like the old saying “don’t judge a book by its cover”.

Especially in the fast pace and rapidly changing world we live in today,
openmindedness is key.
You never know what to expect.
